Bradbury talks about society being very controlled. He mentions how people don't read books because they are "against the law," and that limits how much the society can learn. People only learn what the leaders want them to learn. Bradbury also talks about how being social in the society is controlled. For one person social means " talking about how strange the world is," but to the leaders of the society social means "to get a bunch of people together and not let them talk". By this statement I think he is referring to school. There are hundreds of kids in one building but they are not allowed to talk because they are in class, but the teachers still consider school to be a social event.
Gatto also talks about society being very controlled. He does not think school is necessary for children because in school kids don't learn how to be independent or how to explore. He says that school is more of a "natural selection". He says that "schools are meant to tag the unfit - with poor grades, remedial placement, and other punishments," he explains that school is used to see if you are fit for the society. The schools don't push you to do better then you can because they don't need to. The students are board with learning and so are the teachers. The teachers "are not willing to learn" new things either. By the teachers not learning new things that also restrict what the kids can learn because they kids are learning from the teachers.
I do agree with Gatto. I think that school is a type or natural selection. Everyone takes the same test to find out who is the smartest and what job they can be good at. I also agree how Gatto explains that kids don't learn how to be independent in school. We have so many teachers and staff around us at school we don't need to be independent.

TU Tuesday- Local
A Sara Porter died on May 9th. She was fifteen years old, she died in a car crash." Sara was a passenger in a 1996 Chevrolet Astro van." When the crash happened Sara and Jennell Coffin were in the "backseats and not wearing seat belts." Sara was taken from the car and rushed to Albany Medical Center. The driver of the car "allegedly crossed the center line on Route 8" then hit a mail box and drove off the road, ran into trees, flipped over in a ditch and landed in water. All of the other passengers in the car "were not seriously injured." This shows that you need t beware of who is driving you places. You need to be safe when you are in the car and ware a seat belt.

27. Do you feel safer because of the military?
I do feel safer with the military. It is comforting to know that there is people to protect you if something happens. The military prevents foreign countries from harming Americans and our interests. I know that there is people out there that do want to harm American citizens, but I also know that there is many people in the military that is fighting to keep us all safe. This is so important because not only does it physically keep us safe it also keeps us safe mentally. Could you imagine needing to be laying in bed at night wondering if you will get attacked tonight? The military helps everyone have a peaceful state of mind. We should thank and appreciate the people in the military a lot more often then they do.Everyone should thank the people in the military today especially.

Tired and True

Monday: A cranky teenager that wants to stay in bed all day. It takes every ounce of energy to get up out of bed in the morning.
Tuesday: A sleepy person who's just trying to stay awake for the whole day. The main goal of the day is to not fall asleep in the middle of a conversation.
Wednesday: A 50 year old person. They know that their life is half over, and they are trying to finish living it out to the fullest.
Thursday: A kid who is anxious to get into a candy store. He knows it's just around the corner and he can barley contain his excitement.
Friday: A teenager who is so overly tiered that all she can think about is going home and sitting on the couch all night just watching television. No work, just relaxing.
Saturday: A wild party girl who is up for adventure. She is ready to dance the night away with all of her friends.
Sunday: A family man who has a very specific routine. He is dreading going back to work and doing everything all over again.

TU Tuesday- Commencement Speech
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwvilfPWHYI
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAk1zmqjdmM
Some how a speech so silly and jocular can have such great meaning. Aaron Sorkin's commencement speech got a lot of laughs from the audience. I even let out a few chuckles when he said "you are a bunch of incredibly educated dumb people," and even though I was laughing I understood what he was saying. The graduating class are still so inexperienced with the jobs in the real world. They will have "many screw ups, its a combination of life being so unpredictable and you being so dumb." After lines like that, when you hear a strong and empowering sentence it really hits you. Hearing how "proud your parents are of you every day," can really make you stop and think for a second. "They think that you learned how to walk last week, they don't possibly understand how you can be graduating with a degree today," is something that makes you laugh but then when your chuckles die down you stop and think wow... What are my parents thinking? This is stressful to me, how does it feel on the people that raised me every day of my life? Your parents are the roots of your success. Think where you would be without them. Would you have the motivation that you have today? Would you stand tall with your head up through all of the hard times? I don't think that anyone would be able to without the help of their parents. Every day we should "applaud you parents for all of the love and encouragement that they have given you over the years," (Mary Sue) we should let them know how truly grateful that we are for them. Sometimes we don't show it and we really should more often.

1. How I Use Facebook
I am not a huge Facebook fan, but when I do go on it I like to think that my way of "Facebooking" is unique. This is what I do...
Step 1: Try to turn on the computer without throwing it across the room. Then log in and try to use the right password.
Step 2: Awkwardly look at the home page. See what people are up to, then go "oh look a cool link!" Then click on it, become board and go back to the home page.
Step 3: Laugh at all the people that post every second of there day on it, because lets face it if you do that you have no life. If you have enough time to write on Facebook every three minutes then you probably aren't really doing anything to exciting.
Step 4: Look to see if I have any friend requests or notifications. Then become disappointed because I have none.
Step 5: Decide to eat because I got board. Then eat in front of the computer and end up gaining five pounds.
Step 6: Try to think of a clever post. Nothing ever comes to mind, so I just like someone else's post.
Step 7: Realize that I do indeed have a life and should not be on Facebook.
Step 8: Log out, shut down and go see my pony.

Love to Know Slideshow

Angry Little Girl
What is this girl thinking about?
All I wanted was to have a lollipop, but know I had to wait till after dinner. I just don't understand why I had to wait! I would still eat dinner and drink all of my milk. The day was going so well...I got to go to a family party, see all of my cousins and uncles, and I also got to play with all of the family dogs. Yes this was what I would call a perfect day. Then I saw it, on top of the desert table, it was right in the center on top of a stack of candy. It was glistening in the light I knew that I had to have it. It was a huge, jumbo sized, bright and colorful lollipop. I could feel my taste buds start to jump for joy. I went right up to the table to grab it and right before I had it in my hand, my mother stepped in front of me. She said "no Hannah, that's for after dinner. Don't give me those sad eyes. It will still be there after you eat." That's when I lost it. How does she know that no one else will take it? Why should I need to wait until after dinner to have a lollipop? I was so good all day! I was polite and charming. Now I want that lollipop! The rage inside of me started to bubble up more and more until I exploded. That brings us to where I am now. I am currently on my knees on the ground screaming my head off. I grab my hair and cover my ears so that I can scream even louder. I close my eyes and think about some other kid eating my lollipop, but then when I open my eyes I see my mother. She's standing in front of me with her arms crossed and a frown on her face. My screams quickly turn into a whimper. I unclench my hair and get off my knees. I can tell that now I will never get to taste that sweet lollipop taste. My mother takes me by the arm and brings me inside where I am told to sit on the stairs because "that was immature and unacceptable". That's how my perfect day ended up being one of the most disappointing days in the history of my life.
