Some how a speech so silly and jocular can have such great meaning. Aaron Sorkin's commencement speech got a lot of laughs from the audience. I even let out a few chuckles when he said "you are a bunch of incredibly educated dumb people," and even though I was laughing I understood what he was saying. The graduating class are still so inexperienced with the jobs in the real world. They will have "many screw ups, its a combination of life being so unpredictable and you being so dumb." After lines like that, when you hear a strong and empowering sentence it really hits you. Hearing how "proud your parents are of you every day," can really make you stop and think for a second. "They think that you learned how to walk last week, they don't possibly understand how you can be graduating with a degree today," is something that makes you laugh but then when your chuckles die down you stop and think wow... What are my parents thinking? This is stressful to me, how does it feel on the people that raised me every day of my life? Your parents are the roots of your success. Think where you would be without them. Would you have the motivation that you have today? Would you stand tall with your head up through all of the hard times? I don't think that anyone would be able to without the help of their parents. Every day we should "applaud you parents for all of the love and encouragement that they have given you over the years," (Mary Sue) we should let them know how truly grateful that we are for them. Sometimes we don't show it and we really should  more often.
