My Buddy that left me
All pet owners know that you never leave your dog in a car. Well, I didn't listen to that simple rule. It ended up costing me my pittbull Buddy. This is the story...
I was driving home from Pet Smart with Buddy. He was sticking his head out of the window panting and barking at the trees that we fly by. The radio was on and I was singing along with my favorite song when I herd my cell phone ring. I decided to just let it go to voicemail, but it kept ringing and ringing. It was so distracting I thought it would be best to pullover and pick it up. "Hello?" I said when I answered it. "Okay, okay calm down I can't understand you. Okay, I'll just pick some up on the way home. Don't worry I'll see you soon. Bye." It was my mom calling to say that my sister was getting really sick and I had to pick up more Tylenol on the way home. I pulled back out onto the road and then immediately had to stop for a red light. As I waited I started to think what could be wrong with my sister. Is it just the flu? Or is it really dangerous? Did she catch it from that party she went to? She has been acting weird for a few days, was she sick and not telling anyone because she got it from doing something bad? My mind was wandering with so many things that could have happened to her. I was starting to get nervous, so as soon as the light turned green I took off and headed to the pharmacy to get her medicine. I jumped out of the car so fast and sprinted into the store. The place was packed of coarse. I squeezed through the crowd of people and found the Tylenol. I got in what I thought was the shortest line. When I got out of the store I reached for my car door, opened it and realized how quiet it was...Buddy was gone. I forgot all about Buddy.
That night was the longest night of my life. I went home and gave my sister the medicine and she felt better within hours. Then I had to tell my mom that I lost Buddy because I forgot him in the car. The only thing I could think of was that he jumped out the opened window and ran off. I was just so caught up in getting the medicine fast that I didn't think to deal with Buddy. My mind wandered away and made me so anxious that I lost focus and didn't think how to deal with the situation properly. For that whole night I was out calling for Buddy. I went up and down every street in Albany but just couldn't find him. Now all that I can hope for is that he is smart enough to take care of his self until I find him. I think he will be okay though, I bought my Buddy well.
